The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Zacarias Albano da Costa, welcomed the appointment of Ms. Ameerah Haq as successor of Dr. Athul Kare as Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nation for Timor-Leste.
Ms. Haq is the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Sudan, as well as the Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator and Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in that country.
Minister Zacarias said that he believed that with the qualifications and experience especially in regions much more difficult than Timor-Leste, Ms. Haq has all the conditions to continue the excellent work performed by Dr. Athul Kare.
