Timor-Leste and Brazil - signeed Supplementary Agreement of Tecnical Cooperation




Timor-Leste and Brazil signed the Supplementary Basic Agreement of Technical Cooperation for the implementation of the project "Strengthening of the Timor-Leste’s National Intelligence Service”


The Government of Timor-Leste and Brazil signed on the 10th of June the Supplementary Basic Agreement of Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to implement the project "Strengthening of National Intelligence Service of Timor-Leste "

The Supplementary Agreement is intended to implement the project "Strengthening of the National Intelligence Timor-Leste" in its physical and logical structure of the Timor-Leste’s Intelligence Service in the areas of communication, training of human resources of the National Intelligence Service, assessing and monitoring the implementation of methods and techniques of intelligence transmitted, and use of resources’ material and technology installed for this purpose


The Brazilian Intelligence Agency "ABIN" is the institution responsible for implementing the activities included in this Supplementary Agreement and the Timor-Leste National Intelligence Service of Timor-Leste "SNI" is the institution responsible for the coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities.


After the signing of the document the Minister For Foreign Dr Zacarias Albano da Costa said that “This is a very important project for Timor-Leste as will help to advance and improve our services in this sector. This agreement consolidates the (Direito Democrático) Democratic Law and strengthening of International Law (Consolidação do Direito Internacional). “Minister Zacarias da Costa stressed that" Brazil is a country with many interventions in all areas in Timor-Leste, and this agreement is also the testimony that our relations are growing stronger.


The Chargé d'affaires of Brazil, Dr Nadja Sabine Popoff said that "It is an honor to accomplish this Supplementary Agreement to the Basic Agreement on Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to implement the project "Strengthening of the National Intelligence Timor-Leste. This adjustment shows the mutual trust between our government and I hope that this trust and our relations are growing stronger "
